Don’t be fooled into thinking this film is only about the for-profit college world. This documentary gives an inside glimpse into the debt crisis ALL college students are currently facing. They dig deep into statistics of how much debt can be incurred in a short time frame and how the private, public, and for-profit worlds differ drastically from one another in terms of the financial aid that a student can except to be offered.

Fail State does an excellent job of breaking down where billions of dollars of aid are being funneled through the educational system. You may be surprised at who is reaping the majority of the benefits. Spoiler alert – it is not the college students.

Fail State is beneficial viewing for:

Middle school parents who are starting a conversation about what the family can afford to spend on higher education and how loans may or may not be a part of the student’s financial future.

High school parents and students who want to learn more about the impact of student loans both federal and private and how some schools on their target list may or may not be using those funds to fully benefit the currently enrolled students.

College students who are in the process of paying for their college experience and who are being actively targeted by loan offers either from their school or outside institutions.
