Who are the people your high school or college students should turn to if they want to do well in their classes this upcoming semester? Their teachers.
Students who utilize an instructor’s office or tutorial hours not only get help with the subject, they also give teacher’s a chance to know the student on a one-to-one basis and they see that students are willing to go the extra mile to do well in the class. When it comes time to hand out grades and a student is close to achieving a higher grade but falls slightly short, who is a teacher going to be more willing to give a boost to? When an interesting research or internship opportunity comes across their desk who is a teacher going to think of passing it along to? When students need a letter of recommendation for college, a scholarship, or graduate school what will teachers be able to say that is meaningful about a student?
Teachers can be a strong partner to a student’s success if they are given the chance to work with them on a regular basis.
